In the woods I traverse along a weathered path
Dead leaves and brush litter the ground
Towering trees darken the midday light
A chill runs down my spine as a howl in the wind causes paranoia
Leaves crunch and branches snap
I quickly turn towards the sounds
Fear settles in as I move deeper within the forest
I keep hearing the snap and crackle of brush
My eyes scour the area in hopes of finding the source
Sharp pains emit from my ankles
Two thick roots wrap themselves around me
Dread overtakes my reasoning
I can only stand still as the roots wrap tighter around me
My circulation is being cut off
I let out a sharp scream into the empty forest
The roots have begun to drag me off path into its unsettling depths
I reach my hands out and dig my nails into the hard dirt
Praying for this to all be a dream I come to a stop
Sweat is pouring down my face as I take this moment to breathe
The pain in my ankles is receding
However this bliss is short lived
Several roots come flying at me from all directions
An unbearable pain spreads as the roots wrap around every inch of my body
I can feel myself getting sucked into the ground
The dimmed forest imprints on me as I am made one with the trees
