Rotting in silence
Day in, day out,
even on an honest Monday,
silence feels heavier than truth.
Women walk freely,
their words carried with the wind—
a freedom of speech
earned, needed, deserved.
Their voices shake the world.
But what of the man
whose voice no one waits to hear?
When he speaks, they say he talks too much,
when he keeps quiet,
they say he’s drowning himself.
Society teaches him
to swallow his storms,
to rot behind a steady face,
to suffer in a silence
they mistake for strength.
Tell me—
should we keep living like this,
pretending everything is fine
so that grace may abide?
Or is it time
for the silent to speak
and for the world to finally listen?
