Saviour

Cold Saviour
I regret trying harder than I ever should have,
I regret finding out my efforts were but a weak draft,
Any thoughts of what could've been make me seethe,
Why complain and do the same?

I can't save you like you trusted me to,
I can't be or enact what you need me to do,
Because I have one thing worth living for,
And I fear that it can't just be you,
This fact rattles my core.

Barely soothingly, plays my guitar,
It played better when you weren't so far,
Now it rubs salt in my staining scar,
Nonetheless, I play it hopefully,
It passes the one thing you once had for me.

I fight tears seeing you hurt,
But what can I do?
I'm too skeptical about further inflicting you,
And I fail to cope in the same way you try to.

I fought the same battle,
But I won through a very different tactic,
There're many out there that see me as cattle,
Even if I prove I'm useful for nothing, I'm held captive.

I can't be brought into a war that may very well end in you never being washed ashore, just as it finalised for me, I'm still stuck in the sea.
