Scars That Burn
Blood burns beneath this brittle skin,
I'd open it and let it cool,
But I'm afraid my flesh will be too thin,
And I'm afraid I'd do more than just fall.
I shouldn't be so wary of it,
I find myself hoping for things to be painful,
Yet if I listen to another's bullshit,
I know that I'll end up shameful.
It's hard to know, hard to see,
But you are who wounded this jealousy,
The one who hurts me by simply explaining,
By telling me my efforts to cope aren't in vain,
Don't you realise you're putting me to shame?
I'd give up on you if I could,
I tried, but I couldn't say no to attempted help,
I've tried to leave you, for I know I should,
But you just make me feel compared to the rest.
You hurt me.
Repeatedly, unintentionally, with blind eyes,
And through intentions I don't yet believe in.
