SELF-PORTRAIT

Do you look good in pictures or in real life? Neither, because I look good in theory. Let me paint my self- portrait for you.A little character sketch to expand your imagination.Let me draw a rough sketch first. I am 150 cm tall, I'm short, I know. But short girls look cute with tall guys, don't you agree? I'm petite and cute to be specific. I chopped my hair recently and straightened it. I have a cold skin tone, cold as my heart as people make their first impression of me. I am unapproachable to people who do not know me or haven't heard about me. Got to admit, I hate this part of me. When people finally get to know me, they see my vulnerable side, my soft side, yet strong side. I would stand up for my love ones more than I would stand up for myself. Perhaps, this is because I've always desired someone or a hero to save me. But now, I know better, I'm my own hero.I am not afraid to be afraid. I feel my fears. I love the thrills and adventures. I love risks. My Stock Market professor said that only fools take all 'risks', I agree and disagree, because I have a heart that bounce. No matter how many punches I get, I bounce back. Life has been cruel sometimes, but I always believe I could come back stronger. I hate the thought of being a victim. It's pathetic to me. I always believe in rising like phoenix rises from their ashes.I am very stubborn. If you are the stubborn type too, then let me tell you, this is not a character flaw. It's not all bad to be stubborn. Stubborn means you are firm with what you believe, with what you feel is right. People like us can move mountains when we put our minds to it. No one can change our minds, only when we want to.People say, I work too hard, but I like getting things done in time. They say I'm a perfectionist, but I love being detail-oriented. I have an empathetic nature. I can feel what my people are feeling. Sometimes, I would even get soaked-up in their tragic emotions, in their sorrows. This is not healthy to be honest. I must learn how to separate my feelings from others, instead of intertwining them together. I feel too much. Over-sensitive to some, but let me tell you, I believe that emotions are power. As Aristotle believed that melancholy can make a man creative, I think sadness is key to creativity too.Elders would ask me, "what do you aspire in life child?" I would answer, I don't know yet. My goal in my everyday life is to be authentic, that's for sure. Authenticity is not easy in this world where perfection is normalised, but I try my best everyday. Baby steps matter to me. Life excites me, uncertainty don't scare me anymore and I'm grateful to where I've come and become. I love learning and learning doesn't end and that's the beauty of it.Wow, I got carried away writing and I don't really know how to end it, but thank you for stopping by and read till the end
