Sentinel of Hell.

I must have walked a hundred miles through fields of rain and snow.
I walked and walked until my mind would finally let her go.

I cried for days until the tears ran dry and blood had taken tears place.
I wandered through those fields with that blood stained to my face.

I made it to a city, but it was lost, Noone around.
This city obviously was very old and some may say a ghost town.

I found an old saloon there with plenty of liquor there to drink.
I sat on an old bar stool and immediately felt my heart sink.

As I sat there at that bar, my reflection I could see.
Here I am so miserable, when once noble was the word for me.

I looked upon my blood stained face where no emotion rest in my eyes.
I could tell at that moment, from here on I'd no longer cry.

So I sat up from that barstool and I drank down one more last round.
Then with a newfound sense of honor I stepped back out into that town.

But now that town was full of life, children playing and running about.
Some were laughing hard and others playing in the water spout.

A smile was forced upon my face as I heard their gentle cheer.
And the blood that had stained my face was then washed away by a tear.

Then a woman there had found me, a smile on my face and crying.
And she said to me "It's okay, this is what makes it all worth dying."

Then a confused look I'm sure struck my face as I gave a vacant stare.
And it came to my attention that I was dead and not really there.

She then would comfort me for hours and explain how she knew me.
With her golden hair so soft and her eyes a vibrant green.

Then she told me the tale and soon after I realized it was about a man.
A man who'd lost his whole world and was killed by his own hand.

Quickly it became known to me that this tale was one about me.
And that I have been dead for centuries and my soul was never free.

So then she said unto me "go on spirit, go on, be free."
And the smile was taken from me and I said "I'm a creature of misery."

Heartbroken now she sat and stared at me like a lover from long ago.
It was in that moment I remembered this woman though.

I whispered her name softly "Amber" and she began to cry.
It was because of this woman I walked that field and then I died.

"But that was oh so long ago, I don't know how this can even be."
She said "I died when I heard what you did, I took my life, to spend with you eternity."

"But you're different." She continued "you know live with such evil hate".
"I'm a guardian now." I told her "and I guard Hells infernal gate."
