Shame & Fear

I am ashamed, I am afraid,
Of the choices I've made, the price I've paid.
Regrets that linger, and doubts that stay,
Haunt me through every single day.
I am ashamed of my weaknesses,
Of the moments I've lost my senses.
Of the times I've hurt the ones I love,
And the things I did that I'm not proud of.
I am afraid of the future unknown,
Of the roads I'll take, the seeds I've sown.
Of the paths that lead me to the light,
Or the ones that plunge me into the night.
I am ashamed, I am afraid,
Of the monsters that lurk in the shade.
Of the demons that whisper in my ear,
And the doubts that fill me with fear.
But in the midst of all this shame and fear,
I hold onto the hope that's always near.
The hope that someday I'll find my way,
And overcome these fears, come what may.
For I am not defined by my past,
Nor am I trapped in this fear that lasts.
I am a warrior, brave and strong,
And I'll fight for my happiness all lifelong.
So though I may be ashamed and afraid,
I'll never let them win or lead me astray.
For I am capable of so much more,
And I'll rise above it all, that's for sure.
