Even the deepest of minds
Can not go deeper than my roots
The richest of men is nought
More than dung 'neath my boots,
A man surrounded by friends
Weeps as a departing train toots
Feels the call of loneliness
As the great horned owl hoots,
I look at the world in wonderment
As one after darkness has sight
Seeing as the indigenous that
A lying tongue masks what's right,
That a sky filled with toxic smoke
Can only bring to the world blight
Hiding from mine old souls eye's
The stars which shined at night,
Will twilight no more again be
When the moons hiding her glow
When there's nought to see
Save only the darkness you know,
As I move between the shadows
Blink and I'll no longer be there
For awhile you'll think I you saw
At a blank wall you'll stare,
I can hear the call of the wolf
The whine of the coyote
If you want to see the real me
Then let go of your false reality,
Roots are to feed the trees
With a water pure and sweet
May you remember what I've said
When beyond reality we again meet.
