She used to...

She used to curl her hair and put lipstick on.
She used to know all the lyrics to every song.
She used to love to sing and dance.
And remembered every story of her past from drama to romance.
She used to love to take her walks.
She used to love a glass of wine and loved to talk.
Now as the disease is progressing she stopped curling her hair.
Her lips were drying out from all the wear and tear.
She stopped smiling, and wears a frown.
She stopped dancing all around.
Her voice became dry, and she stopped singing.
Instead of beautiful sounds in her ears, she now hears ringing.
She doesn't remember things she should.
She doesn't do the things she normally would.
Her laughter turned into cries,
She's scared to say goodbye.
From a beautiful, happy, vibrant woman.
She turned into a scared child, who won't let go of your hand.
Her fears are taking over her remaining life.
She faces sorrow and strife.
She doesn't remember one day from another.
She doesn't remember that she was a mother.
Whatever lies ahead of her...
She knows it's gonna hurt.
She slowly is fading away.
Her mind takes her back to the young days.
Soon she will stop eating.
Her words she keeps repeating.
She is turning into something I don't recognize.
Death is slowly showing in her eyes.
The mother I used to know
Is slowly Letting go.
