She wasn't who she said
She was a shadow
I found her along side the road
By the bridge with the river below
that carries the broken souls
with unspeakable holes
Where the unwanted go
The kind of people, you people don't know
it was there I found my fit
it was there I took my hit
we shared the spirit
the Genie in the bottle I kissed her lips
And she came with
she said she could only be gone for a little bit
And for that while I loved it
even if it wasn't real
even if two hearts made of steal
couldn't roll like a wheel
we made a deal
together we would feel
like we lived life and danced on our heals
we broke the rules and never returned
play with fire and await the burn
one day... IT WILL BE MY TURN
I'm old enough I should have learned
for the fire I long, I yearn
for my desire, I stand firm
To hell with consequence
we set aside concern
My own grave, I've earned
Hell, the road paved with good intent
Well, determined and hell bent
on finding the answer to what it meant
if it was all relevant
why was Life to us so malevolent
in a house that was condemned
I paid my rent
That's where all I had to show ever went
And all I've paid back since was spent
on pipe dreams that I forget
Every cent with out repent
hear me now, here I stand
come hear how, heres the plan
we could all see how god has damned
this land that he has given to man
making our move we booked we ran
only to be hooked by the devil's hand
I don't lie about us or who I am
the tie that binds hold what it can
but when it's withered to the last strand
no more fuel in the adrenalin gland
the shadow people begin to demand
the glass made from lightning and sand
become the smoke thatcommands
the river be damned
And make a lake for the fans
Like us, boiling in the frying pan.
And
she was smoking
I was joking
all the while hoping
that her shadow would find the right
shade of light
to allow us another night
