They sit in a shelter on a clean bed
Life has no mercy on the family
Life on the streets pushing a shopping cart
Wasn't the life they'd foreseen,
Yes, the shelter is a safe place to live
Catering to mostly a family environment
They cater little to the single lost soul
The lost soul that's depressed, hell bent,
Depression leads to hard drugs
Creating a street filled with thugs
Always seeking a place to make a shelter
Living a life that's so helter skelter,
Most people only give when their God
A fistful of protected metal coins
Are pryed from there unforgiving hand
Mentally kicking you between your loins,
The family can't forever in the shelter stay
They've been offered a place to call home
Without a solid stable income?
Like vapor in the wind twill soon be gone.
