I lay awake in a room in the night.
Waiting for the darkness to turn to light.
Laying and waiting not because I am sad.
But glad to be more than most, a Dad.
And some may wonder why all the tears.
Because I want to be with you for all of your years.
You don't know now, but you'll find out soon.
That daddy wants to be there, but mommy's a bafoon.
I've held your hands, rocked you and fed you.
All gone to soon over a moment that blew.
Chaos and rage whirled into a frenzy.
I paid the price and ended up empty.
My heart aches and hurts in these moments without you.
These tears on my shirt are from thinking about you.
I love you more than any living being.
But i'll still be there without you seeing.
I'm in your heart, thoughts and prayers.
Because you know I'll always be there.
So don't let this moment of hatred and evil.
Keep you from becoming the good people.
You are my daughter and it goes without fail.
That Daddy loves you and would never bail.
So when my ship is on water and ready to set sail.
Our journey will begin again, my love, my Abigail.
