Q

SILENCE BETWEEN THE LIES

SILENCE BETWEEN THE LIES
People struggle for years, they breathe, they live,
People die so others may breathe life anew,
Truth arrives, yet others claim it to win,
What they hide is how the victors grew.

Fear silences the truth, threats loom and bind,
Lies become the shield when hope runs thin,
Their lives spread thin like dust upon the wind,
And I feel privileged, a whisper in the din.

We, common citizens, wander this harsh world,
Just inserts in the witch’s glaring eye,
Nothing before eyes that never see or twirl,
We stumble through the fog, yet we still try.

We act for less, yet yearn for voice to rise,
Our selfish cries won’t be in vain tonight—
Let the echo break the silence, break the lies,
And maybe, just maybe, truth will find its light.
