Silent candle

A single flame, so fragile, so frail,
Burns until the night, like a sail
Crossing an ocean without fail
Soaring into the deep night, pale.
It flickered bright until the last
Lighting our path, so we'd not be trapped
In the shadows of our own past,
But it's now gone, all too fast.
A life taken, so quick and so sudden
Our flame, extinguished until no one
Remembers the fire that was once kindled,
Mourning our memory, yet no one's buddled.
Gone now, like smoke, it has flown,
Our flame, dispersed, all hope gone
The candle wax, dripping after,
Our only reminder, doomed to last.
