Sing to the fog

Sing to the fog
a bud in the marsh
see nothing but grey
then a speck of lilac
crushed into your palms.
Smelt like rain
and then dew
all that lingers
is the breath of you
crushed against my palm.
Sing to the fog
tried to find you
over and over again
only to have you crushed
over and over again
all that lingers
is the memory
of love.
Crushed to the palm
but her petals ignited
a fire in me
her scent became mine
the way I became her branch
her very tree.
Sing to the fog
see you disappearing
in my dreams every night
grasping only the remnants of
how it felt to be
both you and I
bound for a moment in time.
