Stars scattered in the sky,
drowsy birds perched up high,
owls hoot, their eyes gleam,
the tired population prepares to dream
it is early in the night,
mothers straighten the bed sheets,
as they see the rays of moonlight,
pets run inside for their final treats
lamps are turned on, beds are set,
sleep must be embraced, comfort must be met,
human batteries are low, a recharge is required,
an escape from stress is all that is desired
the heads hit the pillows, people start to escape,
the hectic lives they had in the bustling cityscapes,
the drift off to a place, where the mind is at peace,
at this moment they are sleeping, truly at ease
