Sleep evades me on this cold spring night,
staring at the ceiling in the dark,
uncertain if I should resist the fight,
against the demons in my mind, stark.
Should I let them consume me whole,
as hours quietly slip away,
until morning’s light starts to unfold,
and my tired eyes beg to sway.
There’s a pounding in my chest,
a longing to surrender, to let go,
allowing the demons to do their best,
taking charge of my restless soul.
Would peace find me if I ceased to fight,
letting go of the need to be,
or is there strength in enduring the night,
finding solace in the battles within me?
