Slowest Sunset

Somehow  still empty  though filled with agitation-
My  irritation  stems  from   the  entire  population.
And I’m  struggling  to   form  empathy in real time-
This  leaves  social  interactions  flawed  by design.
Where I’m always disagreeing with the  consensus-
Deriving  less and less  dopamine from my  senses.
Exhaustion always prevents me meeting my needs,
There’s  too much  disappointment  for me to plead,
With  my  doctors  to  render  adequate  support,
So I’m  left with  self-medication  as  my  last  resort.
But  then  there's  you–  bearing the feeling of home.
And  though  our  expiration  date  is  already known,
For now,  within you,  I’m safe  under your protection.
But  as  we’re  rapidly  approaching that  intersection,
I find darkness  lingers behind  every change of color,
You’re  the  slowest sunset  I’ve  ever  had  to endure.
