Song Of Faith

You sing me the joyous tune of an omnipresent being
Of a love so strong and pure it vanquishes all darkness
With a book that is a universal key to all
Yet this pondering mind questions your melody.
What kind of love allows pain so deep, it's rooted and thorned?
What kind of love banishes other love of the same gender?
What kind of love holds fast the pearly gates
To all the good souls who also question the tune?
Where is He when I spend my evening
desperately trying to reinflate my lungs?
Where is He when I experience overwhelming numbness?
A kind that drains every drop of emotion from me?
I used to sing the same tune.
I belted it out, singing His wisdom.
Seeking out His so called plan.
But received only silence in return.
Call me ungrateful, call me uninspired
But faith to me is just a five letter word.
You can harmonize and sing whatever sultry tune you please.
But if you expect me to do the same, guide me and answer me.
