Soulfiends

We danced in the rain and caught a fever
We braved the storms and got shipwrecked
Our dreams were washed down the river
We have only welts to show for the many miles trekked.
We spun rags with a golden weaver
Despite our body and soul all on deck
There was no room left to be any clever
All attempts to salvage love boldly checked
We watch on in defeat as deep ties sever
An empty hourglass stands where nothing worked
Striked-out with no arrow left in the quiver
We hang our bows knowing there was no duty shirked.
