woke up dead I swear , 2:30am and I can feel a chill in the air like maybe an early fall? well september 4th and the leaves are covering the ground . kcra 3 news and weather black coffee spiked with go go faster and I'm almost alive . I know the go fast is bad and illegal but it helps major with these mornings...days whatever . I drop some in my coffee and it usually kicks in as I'm leaving for work . ok the weather says possible snow for next week hmmm..? 3:15 am ready to go , porch light bulb on vacation or dead of course . yeah I live out 25 miles from any town or city off the highway in a single wide mobile home not to far from lake tahoe like 60 miles I think. ok hopefully my Jeep is willing and ready to make a run for the job site ....interior light and door bell buzz good sign . and it cranking over a bit slower than usual but it's not that warm either outside ...Jeep says its 40 degrees Fahrenheit. way cooler than usual . and bam ....it's running and my apologies Jeep but no time for a warm up gotta haul ass and still have 45 miles to drive one way ...bye bye home hello highway and hello 4.0 litre straight 6 horse power ..0 to .....12 mph what the hell it refuses to let me shift to second or third but goes into fourth and fifth gear and that's no good to much to fast it can't get going in 4th from 12 mph and up hill ...shit already 3 cars riding my stupid ass better let them by me . still attempting to find second gear grinding the living hell out of it ....wow I'm pretty high it's kicking in and so is second gear ok 23 mph and into 3rd and forth fifth it's up and running thank God . by the time I avoid all the deer in the highway most of the time I arrive at my job at around 4am . park my Jeep way off the dirt road so it dont get hit by any logging equipment like loaded logging trucks coming off the mountain at high rate of speed. now time to start my machine I will be spending the next 10 to 14 hours running out here in this forest . it's a 77 peterbilt truck converted from a logging truck to a water truck , it has 10 wheels chest high if your 6 feet tall anyway and the engine is a 400 cummins with a 13 speed eaton transmission . it weights in at 55,000 pounds loaded full of water and can soak about 2 miles of dirt at a time ...it's dust and fire control for the logging company to be able to stay working . mandatory item out here . this thing would crush my Jeep like a tin can . I probably turn this truck around 50 times a day in any place you can imagine . places where it would feel crowded in a Ford fiesta . but I know how to run this machine thanks to my mother the hardest working woman and parent I've ever met .. yes she's a logging truck driver and any other truck as well. she's bad to the bone. ....ok well no more chit chat I gotta go maintain 15 miles of switch backs and steep grades while managing not going head on with a loaded truck blind corners . it gets fucking crazy scary sometimes . and about almost half the driving is in reverese shifting gears hauling ass backward like a locomotive does but no rails just me and my mirrors with even though there is a huge tank the mirrors allow me to backup faster and better easyer than in a normal car . ..you're have to see ...ok later ..right.
