Remember when I said,
So very long ago..
That I was losing myself,
I tried to let you know.
Now why do you think,
I can change it back?
I lost who I was,
While trying to get on track.
I kept saying it,
Again over and over..
I am forever changed,
On this road of being sober.
My joy is forever gone,
It's sad but very true.
Why wouldn't you listen?
I would've listened to you.
Things that once held my attention,
Creativity and passion..
Were replaced with work,
Responsibility's inability to ration.
Pushing every day,
Is so extremely tough.
Working through pain,
Just to see I'm not good enough.
This is who I always was,
Before I had any joy..
Now back at square one,
Just trying to take care of my boys.
So maybe I'm just wrong,
To say I lost who I was, you see.
Cause this is who I've always been,
Except for the short time I was happy.
So, please, stop waiting,
Please, listen, you're wasting time.
Don't wait on me to change again,
I'm in that dozen worth a dime.
Many years have passed,
With your every good intention.
But, please, finally hear the truth,
I'm no longer worth to mention.
