standing on linoleum floor from the 1970s
my bare feet, feel cold
I stand in silence
gaze out this 24 x 36inch window
in my kitchen
I see the light of the moon
dance across the cars
I feel the coldness of night
sweep across me
I think how thankful I am
to be able to stand in
my outdated kitchen in my
bare feet holding a glass of
clean water to drink
ice cold at that
how fortunate am I
asking why we feel pain
is like asking
why do we feel happiness
because both exist
they must exist
the existence of both makes us whole
the perspective
it's life and death
take it all as one
to feel is to be alive
why are all these people afraid of it?
when all I do is embrace it....
