My mother always said don't try it.
But after I insisted: why?
She said "It might in time break you."
But I found you in the sky.
Bright, warm, but not harmful.
Your rage was always concealed.
And although I never realized,
The clouds were always my shield.
That's when winds of your abuse
Threw my shield aside.
I look at you
Then tears streak my face.
I can't look away
Because you might outpace
My shuttering eyes
And my heart barely one.
You're like staring into the sun.
