STARS BEYOND MY PRISON WALLS

STARS BEYOND MY PRISON WALLS
A thousand years of wandering—
My feet know the earth’s cold and drought.
I once had you; we were entangled in love and hatred,
Like fog that vanishes here and there about.

Love that blossomed on a misty night of tribulation
Cannot escape grudges deeper than anyone can fathom.
I blame no one that I have imprisoned my all in darkness and loneliness,
Where dreams crawl inside my thoughts,
Where the willow tree is withering.

But there you are, always saying how beautiful the stars outside this prison shine.
If I could only fade and let my heart drift through the vast nowhere,
Maybe forgiveness would no longer be needed.
Memories still hold tears,
Shattering within without a single word uttered.

I once tried to find moonlight to guide me home,
Yet my place remains dark and cold.
Did you choose to leave me living alone?
To cherish bitterness and regrets untold?
To let me feel my whole self tearing apart?
Do you want me to say love is a poem’s illusory spell?

But still, I can hear you speak of how beautiful the moon is...
