Still I Burn

I didn’t come to play pretend,
Or twist the truth or chase the end.
I didn’t lie. I didn’t fake.
I showed up real, and wide awake.
This wasn’t thrill or passing spark.
It lit a fire inside the dark.
You made me feel I had a place—
Like love was more than just a chase.
I never tried to take or steal.
I only gave you what was real.
A heart that’s tired of being small,
That only ever tried to give it all.
They say I’m loud. They say I feel
Too much to ever make it real.
But I would rather drown in flame
Than live my life half-voiced, half-tame.
I saw the walls. I knew the cost.
But what I found was worth what’s lost.
I wasn’t here to make you choose—
I only stayed to speak my truth.
You pulled away. You needed peace.
I felt the cold. I felt release.
But even when the night grew long,
My soul still swore you weren’t just wrong.
Still, I burn. I always will.
The flame may fade, but not go still.
Not for the dream. Not for the past—
But for the love I thought could last.
And if this page is where we part,
You’ll always live inside my heart.
Not as regret. Not as mistake.
But as the fire I dared to wake.
So let them laugh. Let time move on.
The soul you knew is never gone.
I meant it all. I spoke it true.
And that is what I’ll leave with you.
