Stolen pride

I was still young and naive
yet tender,timid and fragile.
All I wish for was a new dawn
so that I could sing, dance and play with my mates.
I was only fifteen years of age
but you saw a man in me.
You stole my pride and hope
you instilled fear me that I had to overcome.
My rising shining star dimmed
my moon was no longer bringing hope unto me.
I was a little boy whose dreams were shattered
didn't you think of my future, my life?
You women stole my virginity
didn't you think I had a say?
Had I turned for revenge and rape
then I would have been a monster, a beast isn't it?
What had I done to deserve such
maybe it's because I didn't a voice to rise for myself, that broke my soul.
But am glad I didn't become bitter
even though it was tough, I became a man to lead our society.
