P

Street kid

While you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth
I was born with a tag out of people's mouth
My real name is long forgotten
The one well known is of my habitat
I have nowhere to call a home
I roam all over
Where the dusk gets me
Is where I lie my feeble body
My stomach's fullness relays on my struggles
Of how many pits I'll come across
how lucky I am that day
And how much leftovers you threw away
My cosy bed relays on weather
Wether it will rain for all trenches to be filled with water
And sweep it away while i shiver in the dark
Or how sunny it would be
for my sleeping cardboards to dry up
and gimme a warm night
And my class, the harsh phases life throws in my face
How to fight for myself, I learned from my fellows
How to face my struggles, I practised them each second
Then I met a family,we formed a home and named it streets
Where violence, humiliation , sexual abuse and harassment are our daily bread
Our tears and blood shed being our daily wine
Survival for the fittest reigns over the little leftovers,
sleeping space and our thorn wears
I call them family cos at least we share, laugh and cry together
While you are busy staring, laughing and running from me
I decided to plant my hopes in me, that tomorrow will be greater
I smile while it lasts give thanks to God for the little I get
So that when my seeds of hope germinates
I'll be able to change my name
From a STREET KID to the great of all time
