We got to Londonderry and we knew
Previous Units had lost quite a few
Each day and each week did pass and we’d know
It won’t be long now before the first boy does go
The Weeks became Months and It’s always In your head
That you may become the regiments first man dead
A year went by with the Unit still Intact
But the worry of being the first was a fact
A few close calls and some boys got hurt
But still not a single man buried In the dirt
We were In different dangers day after day
Yes we can do that the C.O would say
The end was getting near and England was calling
And we’re close to going home without a single man falling
18 Months done and we didn’t go wrong
We’re coming home now Mum a full Battalion strong
