When the morning sky turns
pearly blue,
just past the early red and
orange hue of sunrise...
and when the birds are sated
by their fill,
they'll take some to the nest
within their bill, to quell the cries
of those they hatch...
and feed the fledgling din
when the blur is cleared from
morning eye,
while light is filtered through
the dry of midnight dreams...
and when night time creatures
are well hid,
some safely beyond the reach
of every kid, that schemes
within each briar patch...
just as the day begin
when the quiet cedes its spacious hall
and the sound of footsteps start
to fall on empty floors...
and the scent of coffee fills
the air
and lingers long for those
who care, and for those that
take the time to watch...
the sun rise once again
