Sunset on Rt 66 An Overheard Prayer

You're the length, depth, breath of me
You're all there is in all that I see
From concrete and steel you set me free
Now another force tries to grasp me...
The bottle will not leave me alone
Every morn I awake on a bed of stone
Please give me now the strength I lack
Help me kick to the curb J.W. Black...
Prayer after prayer are lifted into the air
Pleas for drink pleas to be sober all in despair
Prayers so loud they feel that none care
With silence, the heart prove He's everywhere...
Each night I walk down the street
Hearing prayers lifted into the air
I long to give them shelter, bed, food to eat
I need no fame, no glory, just show I care...
