Surrender

Using drugs for a brief reprieve. We watch our loved ones as they grieve. Sadness in there eyes and love in your heart. They want to help, but don't know where to start. They don't understand, the disease of addiction. Why we continue to cause them pain in affliction. We want to stop but have no control. Drug consumed everything, even our soul. We try so hard but it does no good. We would stop today if only we could. All our family can do is stand hopelessly by. Showing they love us with each tear they cry. Causing all this pain was never my intention. The things I've done, I won't even mention. I've finally surrendered, it was my only choice. Only admitting I was powerless, did I have a voice. I finally gave up, I turned over my will. This emptiness inside me, only God can fill. Everyday I get on my knees, and I pray. I asked God to keep me clean, just for the day. There's no way, I can do ithis all on my own. Look at my past and thats easily shown. I know things won't change overnight. But I've stepped out of the darkness and into the light.
