sweet torture

I watched you.
I held my breath.
waiting to exhale I fall again and again.
stumbling in and out of love.
infatuation gets the best of me.
you could have me at my worst and love me at my best.
as it tore me to pieces.
pieces of me like paper.
if papercuts could kill me softly.
I'd bleed just to have you.
your smile.
your laugh.
it was All a poem to me playing out in the next stanza.
your body.
something I wanted to worship at night.
no one but me.
but how do I get you alone?
the clock strikes 2:30 .
my heart races every time of the tick.
again and again I fall.
like dominoes.
like a ripple effect.
yet we're in a crowded room.
it feels like it is just you and me.
the silence between us.
it could kill me.
and I wouldn't even dare to care.
I just wanted a taste.
yet I couldn't keep my eyes off you.
they follow you like a lost puppy till they trapped you.
your gaze set on mine.
a longing made in another lifetime.
I start to speak but the words they didn't exist.
yet I wrote another poem.
knowing you're nothing but a dream.
a fleeting fantasy made to come and go.
yet I would fantasize anyway.
knowing this was sweet torture.
this was once and still love.
