Tasteless sin

Tasteless sin, here you go again.
You have filled my mouth with utterance, utterly disgust.
What once looked sweet has soured on my tongue,
Deception dressed in delight,
But now I see what you really are.
You offered pleasure without peace,
Moments without meaning,
Whispers that led me far from the voice of truth.
You stole my hunger for holiness
And fed me crumbs of emptiness.
I drank from your cup, thinking it was wine,
But it was poison in disguise.
You made me forget my worth
-
Made me forget Who formed me.
But not anymore.
Now I spit you out.
I cleanse my lips with grace.
I fill my soul with the Living Word.
No longer bound by tasteless lies,
I choose the feast of righteousness.
Tasteless sin, you had your turn.
But I belong to a Savior
Who satisfies the soul.
