Our dark juice they sell to the foreigners,
They starve us of our own blessings,
They fill their belly with our food,
They give us grass to eat
I bear no rights, I enjoy no freedom,
The tears I have for my fatherland.
The youths work morning and night,
But remain hungry and poor,
Those before us, prefer social profiling,
They rather condemn than strive for a better land,
The tears I have for my fatherland.
Some were bribed with promises,
Why? They were kept ignorant to be puppets,
Compatriots die singing the anthem,
Fellow citizens die raising the green and white,
The tears I have for my fatherland.
But there is always and end to things, both good and bad,
A little glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel,
Miracles and freedom and peace and unity,
with hope and faith, we shall attain,
The smile I have for my fatherland.
