Text 4. To the one I'm afraid to lose.
I dread your death, like a derisive fate
Watching your hands where shadows already bloom;
Your final laughs, etched luminous in the glass,
Teach me in advance, how to dwell among the ruins.
"My God, my God why have you abandoned me !?"
Why must she, to whom I am so bound, be taken from me !?
The yellow in your eyes makes me fear for the future.
When you talk about your fatigue, is it flesh or a metaphor !?
Your bones grow visible, beneath the thinning dawn,
Each cough a cathedral, collapsing in your chest;
The air becomes an enemy, a monster that refuses to sustain you;
And your forced smiles crown you, with a funeral halo.
The stars upon your skin, now shine as marks of despair,
A timid farewell still, tightening in my throat.
Was it all written !? Are we meant to fight our fate !?
Is it arrogance for man, to stand against God’s will !?
It is your voice I’ll miss, your midnight confessions,
Your endless storytimes, of angels tangled with demons.
Has it all turned to dust !? Will I have strength to walk on !?
Will I have strength to forget !?
To live as if it never was !?
