I Know a Lukewarm Christian

_Developed version, inspired by Linda Shiva’s Thwala_

I know a lukewarm Christian,

He goes to church every Sunday,

Prays in tongues and makes the loudest noise,

But deep down he knows, his spirit is so empty.

I know a lukewarm Christian who’s holier than thou,

On Sundays and Mondays he’s clubbing,

On Tuesdays he’s a lover boy,

And on Wednesday he shares the Word.

You’d swear he does not conform to the ways of the world…

Until Friday night logs in.

He wears the Bible like a badge on his chest,

But leaves conviction at the church door.

He knows all the verses,

But forgets the One they point to.

Hot enough to be seen,

Cold enough to be comfortable,

But never on fire enough to burn.

He claps the loudest at testimony,

Yet his own story is still on draft.

He posts “Amen” under every sermon,

While his heart scrolls past God.

I know a lukewarm Christian…

And sometimes, if I’m honest,

I see him staring back in the mirror.

*Revelation 3:16* — _“Because you are lukewarm, I will spit you out.”_

So I pray: God, make me hot. Make me cold.

But don’t leave me lukewarm.
