The Ballad of Sun and Moon

I am the Sun
Boisterous, blistering
Beautiful and bold
Determined to shine
An ancient god
Blessing my earth
With a warm kiss of life
Then, there is you...
You are the moon
Pulling the ocean waves
Like my heartstrings
Cold, rigid but radiant
Your stars glimmer
And blanket the sky
Oh to be your star…
To bathe in your moon beams
To melt into your cool silent night
Bashfully I blush
Against a dimming sky
Too shy to be caught
Basking in your glow
My lover a world over
My prince of darkness
What a careful dance we spin
To move the hands of time
I am the moon
But a reflection of the sun's might
A pale imitation of brilliant beauty
Shy and reserved am I
How could I compare to you?
A jester of time and tide
Oh, if only I could be caressed by your warmth!
To be wrapped in your nurturing rays
To worship under your light
My lover a world over
My goddess of life
Cursed with this deliberate dance
Of day and night
