The ballad of the holy man

He landed that night, In the village between the moon and the trees. He watched the bridge over the river, He was told, from there everyone jumps. He saw visions at night, In the days he tried to fulfill. But the earth carried him like a sack, To safety. But the earth was fed up with him, And he went wandering. He met lost souls, And tried to touch them, on the tip of the point. But they recoiled, And dripped from his hands like water. He remembered then that bridge, But when he was on his threshold, he looked up at the sky. One day in his wanderings, He found another soul. Her chest was softened like a sponge, And with it he broke away from the grip of the earth. And above that river, Lost souls continued to plummet. But he and she tried to fix their wings, That they could rise to the heavens. He used to say that they were all stolen souls, That one day they would be stolen back. And he touched them all and knew how to heal, Even the blackest soul. One day he woke up and discovered, Whose second soul was also stolen. But when he tried to get up and bring him back, He dragged himself to the starving earth. At night, in the village between the moon and the trees, A lonely soul fell from the bridge over the river. And on his way down he noticed his soul, at the tip of the point, Flowing with thousands of souls, their faces to the bottom.
