The Battle

Succumbed by his power,
Order and control
I knew very well,
What it was that was my role.
To listen, admire
Adhere and obey,
It could not be
Any other way.
Our leader, our father
Aggressive and bold.
We were sculpted and abused,
Turned into mould.
I wanted to escape
Oh how desperately in need,
I was for somebody to be able to read,
Inbetween the lines of hope and faith
I had great trust to believe we'd be safe.
The torment, the anguish
The constant pleas,
We suffered in silence
Praying someone sees.
The battle for freedom,
To escape this turmoil.
And for our feet to touch
Upon nature's soil.
No woman, no child
Should go through this disgrace,
Of any mankind
Such a disgrace to face.
Each day is a battle,
But I know it will be
A whole lot easier,
with time we'll be free.
