The Bus

In the fall of 2019, I was waiting on the 95th East bus on Jeffrey. I wish they had a sit-down booth there. Since they don't, I usually sit at the first house by the bus stop. Every time I sit there, I feel so paranoid looking back at that house door, thinking someone will come out of that house shouting at me to get off their porch. I always picture some fat ass man coming out raising his voice like, "AYE MISS, YOU CAN'T SIT THERE, GET OFF MY PORCH." I would say, "aye man I'm not bothering yo property or nobody, I'm just waiting on the bus, I'm tired of standing up. Is it against the law sitting on people's porches? " It's my law," the man would say. " "You need to watch yo tone bro, " I would say. Something like that, that is just the thought. I have been sitting on that porch ever since I started college in 2013. I hope to never have any problems sitting there. Anyway, the bus arrived and when I got on, I felt a sense of discernment. Ever since I got saved in the church, I've been having a lot of discernment when I am surrounded by people. When I got on, I was sensing a lot of jealous spirits around me looking at me wearing my all-orange outfit. I always wear a lot of bright clothes every day. I don't dress like how most people dress out in the streets wearing solid colors like black or gray. I usually wear a lot of yellow, pink or light green. I wear bright colors all year round. That day I had on all orange. Orange hat, orange shirt, orange pants, orange earrings, orange necklace, orange pierce, orange socks and orange shoes. I sat towards the back facing the window. I usually sit in the front, but I wanted to change my seating. I had put on my headphones listening to electronic music when all of a sudden I had smelt smoke. I did not think twice about it, I thought it was somebody smoking on the bus. Two minutes later, there was a man touching my back. I turned around and said, "whatchu you doing?" That don't make no sense, those bad ass kids that were sitting behind you, lit yo hair on fire in the back, " the man said. I jumped up and shouted. "Where at?" Its okay mam it's just the ends of yo hair was on fire, " the older man said. He kept wiping the smoke off my back jacket. "Girl, you need to press charges, if I was you I get they asses." For that moment I was in shock, I did not say a word but kept shaking my head. Everyone on the bus was informing me to press charges and contact the police. The bus driver gave me her phone and dialed 911 for me. They asked me for a description of the two kids, I had told them I did not have a description of them. That moment had happened so fast. Five minutes later, the police came. I had told them there are two witnesses on the bus that would give a good description of them, and they did. The police thought I should still get into the hospital so the nurses could look at the burnt spots, even though I did not feel any pain, thank God. When the nurse informed me that the reason why I did not feel any pain is that I had a lot of course hair in the back. She advised me to see my beautician and let her cut my damaged ends. Everyone kept saying those teenage kids burned my hair out of jealousy. I guess they thought I was a kid myself although I was 24 at the time. To this day, the police department has not gotten a hold of the kids. I just left that situation to God. As long as I was not hurt, it was all good. Every time I get on the 95th East bus now, that moment still haunts me. Sometimes I will be thinking that I should not be wearing bright clothes anymore or looking nice every day anymore because of that moment. But I still wear what I want to wear every day, I can not let that moment put fear in me. I pray every day and all day. Before I always get on the 95th bus now, I always make sure I pray because "God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and love; and a sound of mind." 2 Timothy 1:7.
