This was back in high school,
I was a grade above and you were from the other side of the world,
The first time we met we were both walking down the hallways towards each other, only to pass by,
We didn't talk that first time but we smiled,
What a smile it was,
I knew I wanted to see more of that,
A few weeks later I'm with the crew at the usual spot when you walked up,
We quickly got aquainted and before long we started walking together whenever we could,
I never really was much for words,
So whenever I spoke I just tried to make you laugh in some way,
I would be silly and awkward,
But even you did the same as to continue the mood,
A girl who is smart and wise,
But can be childish too at times,
It almost seemed like fairy tales weren't just tales,
One day were on the bus coming back from the field trip,
Everyone is loud, and laughing,
We're in the middle row seats flirting and play fighting,
As I feel more confident and unsure,
I tell you how I feel,
It keeps pouring out of me like a river,
And I just keep telling you,
You don't say anything and just stare,
I'm not sure what you are thinking or even if you are thinking anything,
But you just smile and that's that,
Usually your smile is always in bloom like a flower,
But today it was different,
It didn't curve like it usually does,
There was something more,
A hidden sadness,
Something you weren't telling me,
Something I should have known,
Still you don't say anything but just hold my hand and lean on my shoulder,
Since I'm not sure what's on your mind I go with it,
I lay my head on yours and soon enough we are asleep,
I wake up and I'm the only one on the bus,
I don't see you around, I assumed you were with your family long gone,
As I'm gathering my things I notice you,
I notice your smile, your hair, your eyes and your touch all over that guy,
That's your guy,
I didn't even think you had a boyfriend,
Was there a point to this, I don't even know anymore,
She lies to him about me and before long my a** is beat up and thrown behind a dumpster,
I take off the leftover spaghetti off my hair and banana peels off my jacket and walk home alone,
Quite the fairy tale in my opinion,
I'm not gonna talk ugly of her or say life is unfair,
It's just an experience I went through,
If I learned anything is that Tabasco really burn your nostrils and I'm way too gullible,
Whether it was good or bad, I went through it,
It's just something you don't expect,
Like why would you do that to someone?
How could you let someone do that to themselves?
I gave you my heart and you've been stepping on it,
I guess it's just something I wasn't meant for,
Could I do that?
Have everything in my hands just to throw it away,
But not get caught?
Nor feel like sh*t afterwards?
It's the fact that I feel we do this to survive,
So should I be mad?
Should it even matter?
Well it hurts so I believe it does matter,
If this is a game I learned plenty,
I don't think it means that we can't ever be friends,
It just means that there's a part of you that will forever stain my vision of you,
I gave you trust and you lost it,
I thought I found a faithful companion,
Not that it really matters,
The storm is coming
I'm still the same kid,
Scared of a thunderstorm,
I'm still scared...
