It’s past midnight and the night is still
The sound of silence pours blissfully
Lights flicker ominously in the street
All is calm collected and most tranquil
The pitter patter of a cats paws
Amidst the solid silence
And the whistle of the wind
Sneaking beneath windows and doors
Hustle and bustle done for the day
The night still fresh and young
If only this was how it would stay
Unfortunately time can’t be outrun
Birds roosting in the distance
A glorious sound to hear
Creating a wonderful feeling
A sensation so soulful so sincere
The stars up high and bright
Glimmering in plain sight
Glistening in the moonlight
The view is quite the delight
Shimmering like apophyllite
The clock ticks and it tocks
It’s now two o’ clock
Even quieter than before
The world is still as a rock
Not a soul to be seen
No strays from the flock
All are tucked away now
Yet not all are asleep
Awaiting the new day
Not yet all counting sheep
As the new day approaches
The peacefulness will diminish
The calm before the storm
Always has to finish
A storm will always pass
Calmness will forever return
Think of the greener grass
Every moment has its turn
