I sip a thousand word in a late night
Thinking of the cold December
I lay down my head on a snowy chair
Counting up the stars in pairs
Numbering them according to my gifts.
I fixed up time for a start
And realized the night was cold
My fire holds no tree nor stick
Would I pass this night of December?
Oh! What a night to count my words together.
I sat long away watching and freezing outside
They sat by the fire flaming up with smiles
I ought to run but slipped down to still watch
My eyes opened wide to see them
Is this cold night with me?
Walking through the cold night of December
In the midst of many I play dice with stars
Mounting them around like a crown
A miracle on a dazzling head
Frozen in the late nights of fire hunt.
I own a stick of a burning flame of fire
Red enough to melt my December night
I went to my couch to lay digging words out
Giving them a spirited strength from the holy
Green, white, red they look while coming.
