The Curse We Kept

I could promise
Engrave it in your hand
To dance with the toxins
Til no longer we stand
Til our hearts so skeletal
Brittle of alabaster
Decay so lovely
Spells of our caster
From gardens of coal
To the forests of clay
We could mold ourselves
Til forever we should stay
In the afterlife
Still we commute
Through the eyes of disease
Our bodies of mildew
Let's leave our footprints
Traces of singe and ash
Leading to the hellfire
Where life and death clash
I'd hold your shell
Attempt to share my breath
So maybe your essence I loved
Would wash out the curse we kept.
