The Day Death Came A Knockin'

There was a day,
Where death came a knockin'.
In his long,
Black robes,
And skeletal like face,
He asked,
If he can borrow some sugar.
I replied -
" I'm afraid I don't,
Have any.
But it's a good thing,
You caught me.
I was just about,
To run to the market.
Why don't you come along? "
He agreed.
As we walked,
To my driveway.
Death noticed,
I had a new vehicle.
" What happen to your old car? "
He replied -
From that,
I decided to reply,
With a genius,
Comedic retort.
" Sadly, I ' re - soul - d ' it. "
I said chuckling to myself,
In a proud manner.
Death chuckled sarcastically,
And replied -
" Haha,
Haven't heard that before. "
He said with a slight groan.
" Ugh ... "
He muttered.
" I got to get,
Another job.
For this one,
Is going to be,
The ' death ' of me. "
