We were listening
to the Doors when
Nirvana died when
Kurt moved on
through to the other
side and those of us
who loved him sat
stunned and cried
on that awful day
Nirvana died.
He was a god
to our jaded eyes
who taught us why
we should despise
this empty world of
businessmen and lies
I well remember
that we all cried
on that awful day
Nirvana died.
I don’t know why
he took his life but
others blamed it
on his wife and
living through that
constant strife but it’s
just one more reason
why we all cried
on that awful day
Nirvana died.
When Kurt passed
there were those
who’d say he did
what he did that
cold spring day
because the drugs
got their way but
as for me I still cried
on that awful day
Nirvana died.
Well I still often
wonder why our
god of grunge had
to die but after all
the questions and the
lies I guess we’ll never
really know why but
as for me I’ll always cry
on that awful day
Nirvana died.
