The Dream

The Dream

When you asked of a dream,I went back to every night I ever lived.I remembered how I shivered and criedthrough every nightmare and bad dream. How I woke up sweating and trembling from those haunting visions.

When you asked of a dream,I saw myself telling my mother what I dreamed the night before. She would pat my shoulder gentlyand sing a lullaby to comfort mewhenever the dream was bad.

When you asked of a dream,I remembered how excited I wasto tell my mother the good ones. She would sit beside me smiling and tell me to dream good dreamsso she could always see my joyful face.

When you asked of a dream,I wondered how it feltto have friends my ageto share my dreams with.So I dreamed of having a sister, someone besides my motherto talk about dreams with.

When you asked of a dream,I remembered moving to a quiet place to think, but instead I flew away in my thoughts.Yes, I was dreaming…but this dream was different.I could see a bigger version of myself.Maybe it was my future.A big dream, right?

When you asked of a dream,I took it as a vision. How was I seeing a bigger me?Ohhh… that was dreams.

When you asked of a dream,I saw homeless people filled with hope.I learned that the most blissful momentis having someone to lean on when you’re sad when time becomes your best friend, and when you have true, caring friends.

When you asked of a dream, that was the moment I wanted to coverall grudges and sadnesswith hope and love so I could laugh with a pure heart, free from lies. When you asked of a dream,I remembered dreaming of becoming a pilot or a soldier.I could fight hard and work hard to make it true but they were dreams, big dreams too.

When you asked of a dream, that’s when I realized the point.

When you asked of a dream,I realized I wasn’t sleeping.I was awake but dreaming big and long dreams, good ones and nightmares alike.
