THE EXODUS OF POETRY

Poetry once flowed like a river,
Its words dancing with grace and fervor.
But now it seems to be fading away,
Leaving behind an empty, barren bay.
What happened to the power of verse,
That once could move and deeply immerse?
It seems to have lost its hold on our minds,
As we leave it behind and other pursuits we find.
Perhaps we have grown too busy,
To savor the beauty of language and imagery.
Or maybe we no longer have the patience,
To hear the voice of the poet's cadence.
The exodus of poetry may be a sad tale,
But it is not too late to set sail.
Let us open our hearts and minds once more,
And welcome back the poetic lore.
Let us drink in the words like a sweet nectar,
And let them fill our souls with their sweet texture.
For poetry is a treasure that must be kept,
And in its beauty, we must find ourselves again adept.
