The Forgotten Stones

Silence,
Fills the air all around me.
Lost,
Searching in this unfamiliar woods.
Unable to see the direction I'm going for the canopy of leaves above me is too thick.
I'm uncertain of where my feet are taking me and the idea of being lost sends a chill down my spine.
Searching for something to hope for in this labyrinth of trees, unable to find any familiarity.
I close my eyes and just let my feet take me where they please, and just as I've gotten used to the darkness, my feet stop.
I open them to an open field, filled with large stones.
Silence,
Eerie and uncomfortable, filled with eyes watching me.
Lost,
Unable to put a word to this feeling that fills my heart.
I walk through this stone filled hillside, listening.
I feel as though there are whispers all around me.
From those lost and betrayed, those left to be forgotten.
Calling out for somebody, anybody to listen to their story.
Pleading to be heard, pleading to be remembered by someone again.
Silence,
Hoping to bring peace to those who left them.
Lost,
Unable to remember why I came so far from home.
This feeling of a connection begins to fill me with comfort and peace.
Beginning to understand their pain and I stopped in my tracks.
Slowly my heart yearns to stay with them.
Stay with these lost souls of the forgotten and damned.
Feeling their pain as my own, I begin to form into what they are.
Silence,
Filled with regret and sorrow, my being becomes one of them.
Lost,
Forgotten and unwanted, unable to remember who I was before.
